By: Sheriff Glenn Wheeler

July 8th, 2024

Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said Newton County's Chief Deputy, Mike Blocker recently completed a prestigious leadership program designed to build better law enforcement professionals and leaders who, in turn, bring that leadership and professionalism to the agency to be passed on to others.

The ARKANSAS LEADER Program is cosponsored by the University of Arkansas' Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The program has been designated as a Command College of the FBI in which nationally recognized presenters bring curriculum that informs participants not only of practical procedures for effectively managing their agencies, but also of the latest trends, technology and challenges facing law enforcement and our society. A limited number of participants who show the needed traits are hand selected to take part in the program.

"Chief Deputy Blocker exemplifies professionalism and dedication to our office" said Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler, "he is not only a top-notch law enforcement officer, but also an effective and strong leader. I'm blessed to have him on my team and honored to work beside him."

Forty-Three select law enforcement professionals from across Arkansas graduated the program.
