Dispatch

 

In addition to serving Newton County Deputies, the Dispatch center dispatches Game and Fish, State Police, ambulance and first responders in the county. They also provide a critical communications link to the National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service. All fire department emergency numbers ring in the Dispatch Center and fire departments are paged out and directed by Sheriff's Office Dispatchers. Dispatch is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

All Dispatchers are required to attend and pass a training class in the use of the ACIC and NCIC computer system which allows them access to state and national data base for law enforcement officer's use.
Dispatchers are required to keep detailed logs of all phone calls and radio traffic. The Dispatch Center is the first line of effective communications between the public and various emergency services located in the county.
