Ricky L. Middleton, 51, of Mt Judea, was arrested January 1, 2010 for conspiracy to kidnap, and conspiracy to escape. Jail calls from Middleton's brother, David, to Ricky that were being monitored by authorities, revealed a plan to facilitate an escape by David Middleton and the kidnapping of Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape's child. Middleton's bond has been set at $1 million.
