Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape said A deputy responded to Piercetown in response to a call to dispatch in the early morning of March 5th. Sheriff Slape said the call was from a woman stating her boyfriend had assaulted her and fired a firearm at her. Deputies arrived on scene and arrested Corey Freeman, age 26, of Piercetown. Deputies found a firearm and suspected marijuana and suspected drug paraphernalia in the residence while making the arrest. Freeman was transported to the Boone County Jail and charged with Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Domestic battery, and Aggravated Assault on a family or household member.
